The hire shall provide comprehensive endodontic services to patients referred by staff dentists or dental officers. Duties include:

Examinations & Diagnostics:
- Perform comprehensive oral exams
- Interpret radiographs and diagnostics

Treatment:
- Perform non-surgical and surgical endodontic procedures
- Treat complex endodontic cases (e.g., retreatments, apicoectomies)

Collaboration:
- Work with general dentists and other specialists
- Provide consultation and second opinions as needed

Documentation:
- Accurately document patient care in Electronic Health Records (EHR)

Patient Education:
- Educate patients about treatment plans, procedures, and post-op care

Compliance:
- Follow Indian Health Service (IHS) policies and procedures
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and OSHA safety standards

Other Requirements:
- May need to travel to different IHS service units
- Must pass a background investigation and credentialing process
Qualifications of the Endodontist
Degree Requirements:
- Must possess a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA).
License:
- Must have a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a state, the District of Columbia, or U.S. territory.
Board Certification (if applicable):
- Preference may be given to candidates who are board-certified or board-eligible in Endodontics.
Experience:
- Must have at least two (2) years of clinical experience in the practice of endodontics post-residency, OR completion of an accredited endodontic residency program.
Basic Life Support (BLS):
- Must maintain current certification in BLS, approved by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
